Our Mission
Urban Family Educational Services was founded to support families of children with disabilities in urban communities by providing independent educational resources and guidance. We focus on this population because many students in urban schools receive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) yet face barriers to quality instruction and equitable access to curriculum and programs.
Our mission is to collaborate with, support, and empower families so their children receive appropriate services that promote academic success. Students of color are disproportionately represented in special education and often encounter limited access to effective programs and qualified personnel. As special education programs evolve, it is essential that parents understand their rights and the resources available to help their children thrive academically.
